In 86 Eighty Six, two ends meet in a made-up conflict. For nine years, the Republic of San Magnolia and the Empire of Giad have been engaged in combat. The Empire of Giad has caused the Republic of San Magnolia much damage and fatalities with its hordes of drones and robots.

But soon after, the Republic won the battle thanks to developing their drones, known as “juggernauts.” The Republic can effectively protect its nation with little to no losses as the years go by.

There is a grim reality concealed beneath this incredible turn of events: the enslavement and oppression of a whole people known as the “86” was the reason for the zero casualties and the security of all 85 districts of the Republic.

Everyone who didn’t look like the silver-haired Alba race got barred from entering the other sectors and detained in the “86th” district. The “Juggernauts” had to be piloted by men, women, and children to combat the Empire. Because the 86 were considered “inhuman,” the Alba did not care that they died.

A young and promising star in the Republic Military is Vladilena (Lena) Milizé. Unfortunately, her classmates and superiors have ostracized her because of her vocal opposition to the prejudice against the “86” and her reputation as an “86” supporter.

After being sent as a “handler” to the notorious Spearhead Squadron, she quickly meets Shinei (Shin) Nouzen, the Undertaker and Spearhead squadron captain, a youngster who has survived every squadron he has ever been in.

Through the Spearhead Squadron, Lena ultimately understands that everything is not as it seems and that the 86 who fought and lost their lives on the battlefield had a terrible secret. In the face of the Spearhead Squadron’s impending demise, Lena fights to save the “86.”

Everyone is reunited at the season’s conclusion, when Frederica, Shin, and—most importantly—Lena first meet each other. Since Lena followed through on her promise to catch up with Shin and the rest of the crew, they are now confronting this threat together.
